When to use a Mac Filtering Switch

The MAC Filtering Switch (MFS-8) is necessary in some occasions with a Total Control System. Here's when...

  • A Mac Filtering Switch must be used anytime there is a DMS unit in the system. This is because the DMS units are a streaming device. Therefore they are always sending information over the network.
  • If you are using an SNP-1, but do not have a DMS unit in the system, a MFS is not required. Once a file that does not include a DMS unit is downloaded to the MRX-10 and SNP-1, it disables the streaming capabilities of the SNP-1.
  • If you are using an SNP-2 as a source and NOT a streaming device, you must go into the properties of the SNP-2, Audio Options, and disable streaming of the SNP-2.
